OCD GRIEF GROUP | FEBRUARY 27, 2021
Many people believe that feelings of grief are most often associated with experiencing the death of a loved one. In reality, grief can be related to any loss. The OCD Grief Group looks at the 5 stages of grief – 1. Denial & Isolation, 2. Anger, 3. Bargaining, 4. Depression, 5. Acceptance, and explores how all of these stages can manifest themselves in individuals struggling with OCD. This 6-week session is therapist-led, gives participants an opportunity to process feelings of grief related to OCD and receive encouragement from fellow participants who share similar losses. The goal of this group is to allow members to identify the stages they have encountered, discuss the risk factors of the various stages, and provide healthy coping skills to ideally transition to acceptance and healing.
This group is appropriate for the various symptom dimensions of OCD and will incorporate losses around navigating OCD and the pandemic. Grief sessions have limited availability and are on a first-come, first-served basis. The minimum requirement is 6 participants and the maximum number allowed is 12. Reaching out to us promptly will prevent you from having to be placed on our waiting list for a future session.
