OCD SUPPORT GROUP FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR

OCD Set Free is also committed to supporting marginalized communities living with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) through our initiative, ERP Kaleidoscope. For BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) living with OCD, it can feel even more complex when navigating injustices while also struggling with scary, intrusive thoughts.  Through our programming, we offer affinity groups, healing spaces, networking, advocacy initiatives, and more. We provide safe spaces for those wanting to share how OCD has impacted their professional life, racial identity, social life, and family life.

Through these initiatives, BIPOC with OCD have an opportunity to connect with others and:

  • Explore how racial injustices contribute to or worsen OCD symptoms, including intrusive thoughts and compulsions
  • Discuss barriers to previously navigating treatment in various mental health settings due to microaggressions & discrimination
  • Examine the difficulties of not having peers and therapists of color in which to relate
  • Process issues that can arise from language, religious and cultural differences
  • Heal from the stigma associated with having OCD while being BIPOC
  • Explore and celebrate your personal strengths and resilience due to your BIPOC identity
